Root Cellar /smoke house renovations

This is a job I recently completed for a former staff member at the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission member. Shown are the doors and the root cellar in varying stages of renovation. In keeping with the ideals of historic preservation only work that needs to be done is repaired. While complete renovation might be more pleasing to the eye it often hides the history of the structure. The door designs were found in the Eric Sloane book "A Reverence For Wood".

Completed wood stove alcove

This wood stove alcove saves space for the owner of a smaller cottage home on the western slope of Gambrill Mountain. The Ecofan improves the efficiency of the stove up to 30%.

6th Street Renovation - completed

This home is located in Frederick, Maryland's Historic District. I doubled the home's square footage with the addition that included a second bathroom, master bedroom, dining room, and third floor. Wood floors were installed, bathrooms were tiled, and a fireplace was built in the living room.
